STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY IN THE WAKE OF GEORGE FLOYD’S DEATH

June 1, 2020

Union Community Health Center stands in solidarity with the members of our community, our patients and staff in the overwhelming sadness and anger felt over the death of George Floyd. Long-standing, systemic racism is part of the public health crisis devastating communities of color across our country. As we continue to struggle with the disproportionate impact COVID-19 has had on the Bronx, and other black and brown communities, we are reminded that real change is vital in order to address insurmountable health, social justice and economic inequities which continue to exist. The time to stand-up and call for human rights is now if we are to stay true to our mission of providing comprehensive, culturally competent primary and preventive health care services to improve the health status and decrease health disparities of the medically underserved populations of the Bronx.
